A number of nursing education options are available in Denver. In addition to having the oldest BSN program west of the Mississippi, programs at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Nursing include an online RN-Bachelor of Science program designed for adult learners who want to complete a degree while working; graduate-level specialties in pediatric, family and geriatric nurse practitioner, nursing service administration and nurse midwifery; and doctoral study. A graduate-level neonatal nurse practitioner program, an accelerated BSN program for students holding degrees in non-nursing fields, and an RN-BSN completion program are among the undergraduate and graduate programs of study available through Regis University. An RN completion program and an accelerated BSN are also available at Metropolitan State College of Denver. For those who desire a shorter path to a nursing career, nurse aide and practical nursing certificates and an associate of applied science in nursing are offered by the Community College of Denver.
